Our customers trust the S&B zig-zag classifier especially when high levels of quality and reliability are key. Multi-stage classification at the bending edges is the basis for the highest purity grades. The air classifier also stands out by its separation ranges which can be tuned very finely.
Operating principle
To guarantee uniform material input and airtightness, a rotary feeder is connected upstream of the classifier head. The rotary feeder is followed by a zigzag channel into which the material is dropped, and then flows along the side surfaces that are inclined at different angles.
A permanent ascending air flow is present in the channel. When material moves over the rims of the "inclined walls", the lightweight fraction will be caught by the airflow and carried upwards for extraction. They heavy fraction falls down and is discharged. If this discharge takes place via a blow line, an additional rotary feeder may be installed.
