As the control equipment used in modern companies is growing ever more complex, the cooling and ventilation of these systems also has to meet increasing requirements. S&B control room cooling creates the best possible conditions for long-lasting and failure-free switchgear operation. Only this will enable you to guarantee the high levels of availability which are required on a mandatory basis, e.g., in sorting facilities and recycling companies. The know-how we have acquired in sorting booth ventilation enables us to be your competent interlocutor for control room cooling as well.

Operating principle

A fan is used to take in the hot air created by waste heat escaping from control cabinets into an air-conditioning cabinet where the air stream passes through a cooling register which is connected to an external unit (water chiller). Cooled air is fed back to the control cabinets via a raised floor beneath the air-conditioning cabinet.

As an alternative and to reduce expenditure even further, it is also possible to use a recirculating air module installed under the ceiling to cool control rooms if their cooling requirements are lower.

Technical specifications

Cooling power 1-75 kW
Air quantities 500-35,000 m³/h
Equipment features
  • Control cabinet with fully automated control integrated into an air-conditioning cabinet
  • Microprocessor-controlled fans
  • All cooling and electrical components accessible from the front face of the air-conditioning cabinet
Benefits
  • Establish an optimum temperature window for switchgear and servers
  • Avoid any failure of control equipment and thus of the plants connected
  • Minimize material wear in switchgear
  • Allow easier maintenance and smaller footprint as no intervention into the air-conditioning cabinet is necessary from the sides
