The S&B kidney classifier impresses with its high purity and efficiency levels. Its compact design also helps to avoid problems when integrating this classifier into an existing system in order to considerably improve its efficiency. As it offers a variety of setting options, the kidney classifier can be adapted to different flows of material in a straightforward manner.

Operating principle

A heterogeneous flow of material is carried to the classifier head via a feeding conveyor. A flow of air is directed into the material as it falls down, and blows the lightweight fraction against the kidney-shaped rear wall of the classifier head located opposite.

Using a separation effect similar to a cyclone, the hard plastics material still remaining keeps falling back downwards on its way along the curved wall. Any film material still remaining in the flow can be sucked off at the upper end, and be conducted by pneumatic conveyance directly to the light fraction separator. The heavy fraction will be evacuated using conveyor belts.
